The 10 Most Amazing Wineries in Queensland


    Drunk on the idea of having a little truck coming to your neighbourhood to serve wine instead of ice cream? Well how does this sound? Instead of coming to your neighbourhood, that little truck will pick you up from your front door and take you to some of the most picturesque boutique wineries of the nation where you can taste some of the best wines produced in Queensland!

    Well, in the real world, we do have something like that little truck – The Vino Bus, which takes you to these beautiful boutique wineries. Talking about the wineries, we are going to list down Ten of our favourites this year:

    1. Witches Falls Winery, Tamborine

    Located on Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Witches Falls Winery produces high quality wine competeing with some of the best in Australia, and is rated as a 5 Red Star winery by the infamous James Halliday - Australia’s top wine critic. Witches Falls Winery is one of the best places in Queensland to enjoy an experience of the whole wine making process and offers the ideal environment to enjoy a tasting experience amongst the vines - you can even bring along your own picnic and use their tables or picnic blankets on site!

    2. Heritage Estate Winery, Tamborine & The Granite Belt

    Another 5 star Halliday rated winery is Heritage Estate Wines. Established in 1992, Heritage Estate is a can’t miss on the Granite Belt or Tamborine Mountain wine Trail. They have 4 cellar doors where you can experience sipping on their award wining wines. Each cellar door is situated in a timeless atmosphere of collectables and antique furniture. To complete the picture, an open log fire is present at the Cottonvale and Tamborine Cellar Door/Resturant. You cannot stop in without trying their famous Moonshine Madness!

    3. Cedar Creek Estate Winery, Tamborine

    Set amidst the picturesque grounds of Tamborine Mountain, The Cedar Creek Estate Winery offers you a unique and special wine tasting experience on the mountain. They have their own restaurant where you can relax and enjoy amazing food, along with stunning views. There is the Arthur Hamblin Gallery for Art Lovers and the Glow Worm Cave offering tours. Not to forget, there’s also a romantic Wedding Venue at the winery. Trying the famous Chocolate Port and Cedar Cream is a must when you visit!

    6. Mason Wines, Tamborine, The Granite Belt & Montville

    Mason Wines prides itself on their beautiful and unique Cellar doors and their crowd pleasing wines. Their wine is passionately produced at their beautiful vineyard in the Granite Belt for tasting at their winery on Tamborine Mountain or their Cellar Door at Montville. A taste of their Cellar collection is a must. BYO picnic blanket and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine with a beautiful view!

    4. Tobin Wines, The Granite Belt

    Located in the heart of the Granite Belt, Tobin Winery is renowned for its exceptional handcrafted wines and personalised itimate tastings. Adrian Tobin, the proprietor of the estate, welcomes the wine tasters himself and seduces them with stories of his wine making process. If you are lucky, and the cellar door is not busy, he might just take you on a ramble through the estate that produces his premium wines!

    5. Golden Grove Estate, The Granite Belt

    Situated in Ballandean, Golden Grove Estate is known for producing incredible wines with classic and mediteranien grapes varieties. Third generation Italian winemaker's Ray and Jason have been huge award winners throughout Queensland and Golden Grove Estate is rated as a 5 red star winery in Australia by James halliday.

    7. Sirromet Winery, Mt Cotton

    Located at Mount Cotton, Sirromet is home to more than just premium wine. A family owned and run winery, just a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast incorporates state of the art wine making facilities, fine dining, wine tastings, tours and a year-round calendar of entertainment including the famous 'Day On The Green'. Enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the wine making process and a tasting of their range - or even drop in for an amazing lunch and beautiful views.

    8. Albert River Wines, Tamborine

    Situated at the base of Tamborine Mountain, Albert River Wines is easily one of the most beautiful wineries in South East Queensland. Purple Jacaranda trees line the road that leads you up to the stunning heritage listed Queenslander style homestead. Built in 1876, it has been the residence of 3 former QLD premiers and the Carmelite Nuns. The historic venue has a beautiful onsite restaurant with incredible views of the country side. The Sparkling Shiraz is a must try!

    9. Ballandean Estate Wines, The Granite Belt

    Since 1932 the Puglisi family have produced exceptional wine out of The Granite Belt. Their beautiful winery is situated in the heart of Ballandean and the art of Italian style of wine making has been passed down through the generations of their family until this very day. Not only is Ballandean Estate well known for their hospitable charm and their wines, the winery hosts the very popular 'Opera In The Vines' every year and people around the nation travel miles to get to. Onsite is the delightful one hat resturant 'The Barrelroom' that also boasts the oldest working barrels in the state, these 150 year old relics are filled with ageing Liqueur Muscat and Port.

    10. Clovely Estate Winey, South Burnett & Brisbane

    This beautiful family owned boutique winery was established in 1997. Although situated in the South Burnett region 3 hours north west of Brisbane, they conveniently have a delightful cellar door located in Red hill close to Brisbane city that hosts regular degustation dinners paid with their award winning wines. Clovely is a 5 star rated winery by James Halliday and not only have a large national following for their wines, but for the Olives they produce as well!
